New Patrol Task Force Sergeant at Ventura Police Department & City of Oxnard Now Hiring for Temporary Emergency Shelter

  • Sergeant Jerry Foreman has retired from the Ventura Police Department and the new contact for Ventura's Patrol Task Force (PTF) is Sergeant Mike Anselmo. There is also a new corporal who joined the PTF this week. Earlier this month, one (1) social worker working also started working with the PTF on homeless outreach. Funding for the social worker position is provided by Ventura County's Rapid Integrated Support & Engagement (RISE) Program.
    Ventura's Homeless Shelter at 2323 Knoll Drive isn't expected to open until the end of 2019. A 24/7 temporary 24-hour emergency shelter on K St at the site of Oxnard's National Guard Armory is expected to open on December 10, 2018 and to remain open through June 1, 2018.

    There were no applications submitted by shelter operators. As a result, the City of Oxnard has begun accepting applications for the positions of Shelter Manager, Shelter Supervisor, and Shelter Monitor, to work at the Temporary Emergency Shelter which will begin operations next month at the site of the former National Guard Armory in Oxnard. They are looking to hire a dedicated team of qualified, enthusiastic, public service-oriented individuals to help us launch this effort as one part of a broad strategy to address homelessness.
