Pierpont Community Council Guest Speakers

Wednesday  Jan. 18, 2012

The Pierpont Community;

We had a very good & informative meeting last night that was very well attended. The 2 major topics were the City of Ventura’s Safe & Clean Program dealing homelessness and vagrancy.  Assistant Chief of Police, Quinn Fenwick, a local longtime Pierponter and Rob Orth of Project Understanding gave the presentation and links will be on this website.

The second issue taken up seemingly at the last minute was the one near and dear to our hearts…the Sand Issues.  In brief summary, after years and years of talks, a lawsuit was filed by 15 homeowners and after years of wrangling and appeals the City decided “no more appeals” and will adhere to the rulings of the lawsuit.  The City’s bid package and links to various City sites that will help in explaining what is coming down the road and soon. Due to various “situations” such as working around the “grunion season” and the “snowy plover” season, it is not an ideal working program but as they say, “them are the cards you are dealt”.  Bids are due this Thursday and the City Council will award the contract on Jan. 30 and work must be commenced by March 1st.  Please see the links to you understand this project.

With regards,

Jim McCaslin
Chair
