The First Annual Tribute to Johnny Cash Music
Festival to be held in Ventura, California
(Ventura, CA)-- On Saturday, June 20, 2009 at
the Ventura County Fairgrounds at Seaside Park,
Ventura will celebrate one of its most popular
and beloved former residents, Johnny Cash.
The Man in Black will be honored with his music
performed by the most popular Johnny Cash cover
bands in the country. Ventura’s own “The Mighty
Cash Cats”, and local favorite “Big River”, are
scheduled to perform, along with “The Cash
Prophets,” based, naturally, in Folsom, and San
Diego’s award winning band “Cash’d Out”.
In addition to a full schedule of live music on
two stages, the ‘Derby Darlins’ will be skating
in a dramatic “Rink of Fire”, a “One Piece at a
Time” Hot Rod show will be on view featuring
over 50 cars, and a “People’s Choice
Rock-a-Billy Babe & Boy Contest” will be held,
in addition to appearances by surprise celebrity
guests. More than 100 venders will be selling
everything from gospel and Rock-a-Billy music to
jewelry, crafts, guitars and Johnny Cash
memorabilia.
The festival’s hours are 11 am to 7 pm. Tickets
are $15 and include all performances and
activities. Wine, beer and food will be
available for purchase. The Ventura County
Fairgrounds are located at 10 West Harbor Blvd.
